Call for Volunteers: New Roots

Commitment: Flexible volunteer opportunities between July - November 2026


About New Roots

New Roots is a community-based climate justice initiative that brings together newcomers and local residents through environmental learning experiences such as nature walks, food-growing workshops, and energy literacy activities. The program aims to create inclusive “third spaces” where participants can build practical skills, social connection, and confidence in environmental stewardship.


Volunteer Roles

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support different aspects of the program, including:

  • Event setup and logistics
  • Participant support and welcoming
  • Workshop facilitation support
  • Outreach and community engagement
  • Translation or multilingual support (if applicable)
  • Nature walk assistance
  • Gardening and workshop preparation


Who Should Apply?

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels. This opportunity is especially suited for people interested in:

  • Over “age of majority” in province of opportunity
  • Minimum 16 years old

  • Willing to undergo a background or police records check

  • Comfortable commuting to opportunity location
  • Own laptop with internet access and camera
