About This Opportunity
VEMA Deconstruction, in collaboration with the National Deconstruction & Material Upcycling Association (NDMUA), is offering a hands-on volunteer opportunity for individuals interested in sustainable construction, material recovery, and environmental leadership.
Participants will gain real-world field experience working alongside experienced crews on active deconstruction and reclaimed material recovery projects in Metro Vancouver.
Training & Experience Includes:
• Safe dismantling of residential and commercial structures
• Selective deconstruction and material preservation methods
• Reclaimed lumber processing and material salvage
• Carpentry and construction support experience
• Tool, equipment, and job site safety awareness
• Material sorting, handling, and logistics coordination
• Exposure to circular construction and low-carbon building practices
• Understanding landfill diversion and embodied carbon reduction
Ideal for students, apprentices, tradespeople, sustainability advocates, and individuals seeking hands-on experience in green construction and material reuse industries.
