We are looking for Volunteer Event Committee members for the Hike for Hospice on May 30, 2026 which raises awareness and funds for Doane House Hospice and Margaret Bahen Hospice.  The Hospices provide support to people living with a life threatening illness from diagnosis to end of life.

The Hike for Hospice is a peer to peer community based fundraising event. Participants will walk one of two routes at Fairy Lake Park in Newmarket in memory/honour of a loved one or in support of our hospice services. Post-hike BBQ lunch, family activities and awards.

The Volunteer Event Committee Member will attend biweekly Committee meetings and work towards the goals of recruiting new attendees to form a team, acquiring a new sponsor, procuring gift in kind items, and recommending a new volunteer committee member

Skills and experience that would be asset in this position are event planning and/or fundraising experience, flexibility, self-motivation, strong communication and active listening skills, and knowledge of community resources.
