About This Opportunity

Stevens-Johnson Syndrome Canada is a registered non-profit organization that aims to promote health by providing people suffering from SJS/TEN as well as their families and caregivers with access to related counselling, support groups and information programs. The President, a survivor of SJS/TEN - the disease that burns the body from the inside out - founded this organization over 10 years ago. SJS Canada was created with the intention of bringing awareness to the general and medical communities by providing workshops, support groups, seminars, and information about this illness and its effects. 

Possible Duties 

● Maintain accurate records of income and expenses using accounting software or spreadsheets. 

● Reconcile bank statements and financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness. 

● Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, on a monthly or quarterly basis. 

● Assist in budget planning and monitoring to support the organization's financial health and sustainability. 

● Collaborate with the Treasurer and other team members to ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices. 

● Provide support during audits or financial reviews as needed. 

● Communicate regularly with the Treasurer and President to discuss financial updates, concerns, and opportunities. 

● Assist in other duties as assigned. 

Desired Qualifications 

 Proven bookkeeping experience. 

● Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles. 

● Ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records. 

● Data entry skills and numerical proficiency.

● Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping. 

● Experience with spreadsheets and accounting software. 

● Proficiency in English and MS Office. 

● Customer service orientation and negotiation skills. 

● Proven organizational skills, task management, ability to meet deadlines. 

● Post-secondary training in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred.
