WITH VICTIMS SERVICES SOUTHWEST

Summary

Volunteer with Victims Services Southwest and support people in the immediate aftermath of crime and traumatic events. This is an RCMP-based victim services program, and volunteers are a key part of how the organization provides timely, human support when someone is going through a difficult moment. As a Victim Support Worker, you help with emotional support, practical assistance, and connecting victims and witnesses to the right community resources. You may also help people understand what to expect in the police process and court process, and support things like court orientation and accompaniment when needed. Volunteers are expected to be strong communicators, non-judgmental, flexible, and able to maintain strict confidentiality. The role requires obtaining and maintaining RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance, attending training and meetings, and completing required documentation under the supervision of the Program Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator.
