We are Fireweed Food Co-op, a non-profit community service cooperative who works to lower barriers to and boost participation in the local food system for everyone—from farmers to consumers. The South Osborne Farmers' Market and Fireweed Food Hub are our two main initiatives.
Role responsibilities:
Volunteers help us manage our mobile market, which sells cheap, subsidized food in Winnipeg's North End. We get all of our food from nearby farmers and offer it for sale at reasonable prices. The setting up, handling of payments, and cleanup will all be done by volunteers. Although accommodating, it is ideal if you can lift up to 50 pounds.
Required skills:
- Handling payment transactions in cash and using Square (on-site training will be provided)
- Customer service attributes
- A friendly and welcoming attitude!
- Must be 18+
