Position type: One year volunteer commitment (4hrs per week)
Reports to: Volunteer coordinators/Chapter EC
Volunteer Role Summary: The Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting and leading on the organizing for logistics for events, from behind the scenes details for an event, to assisting the event lead on the day of the event. The Event Coordinator must have an eagle eye for event planning and logistics, and have experience in event planning, ideally for a diversity of event types.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with Chapter EC for event planning using google docs.
- Working with Volunteer Coordinator to help recruit volunteers for the event, and delegating tasks.
- Coordinating events with partners, and ensuring partners as well as sponsors are recognized in media.
- Connect to the media team to promote and publicize event.
- Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations.
- Obtaining insurances & permits for events (working with staff to do this).
- Working with treasurer for budgets and fundraising.
- Creating and distributing posters and promotional materials where required.
- Organizing public meet ups and other events as per the chapter’s annual plan.
