Position type: One year volunteer commitment (estimated 10-15 hours of work per month)
Reports to: Volunteer coordinators/Chapter EC, or Events Lead.
Volunteer Role Summary: Event team members are responsible for supporting and leading on the organizing for logistics for events, this includes behind the scenes details for an event, to the day of tabling. This specific role will focus on coordinating, preparing, and tabling for community events with opportunities to host Surfrider-Led events and public meet-ups if interested.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with Chapter EC for event planning using google docs.
- Working with various volunteers to help recruit volunteers, gain new members or one-time donors, increase newsletter sign-ups, and share Surfrider updates and news.
- Coordinating events with partners, and ensuring partners as well as sponsors are recognized in media.
- Connect to the media team to promote and publicize event.
- Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations, including ensuring the event connects to Surfrider's Mission.
- Obtaining insurances & permits for events (working with staff to do this).
- Working with treasurer for budgets and fundraising.
- Creating and distributing posters and promotional materials where required.
