SickKids runs a specialized High School Summer Volunteer Program that gives students aged 16+ real-world exposure within pediatric care settings. Students can work in Hospital Support roles (Family Centre, Gift Shop, Play Park) or as part of the Child Life team, assisting in playrooms, caregiver respite, and ensuring hospital spaces feel more welcoming. Each shift is 3 hours, Monday to Friday, in July or August—offering a focused, intensive experience.
Beyond the summer program, SickKids offers High School Co-op placements in Grades 11–12 for students passionate about health care. These placements may be administrative, patient-facing, or research-based, letting students see behind the scenes in a hospital environment, learn hospital operations, or contribute to clinical studies. Onboarding, orientation, and eligibility checks are part of the program.
