About This Opportunity
U+ Community — Unpaid volunteer opportunity
Enjoy asking good questions and finding useful information? Support U+ Community with research that helps staff understand community needs and explore potential funding and partnerships. As a Research & Grant Support Volunteer, you will turn your findings into organized notes and help assemble materials for staff-led applications.
About U+ Community
U+ Community brings volunteers together to support community programs and events. Through U+ Volunteer Connect, volunteers contribute to practical projects in program support, administration, communications and technology.
What you will do
- Research assigned community needs and summarize relevant information from credible sources.
- Identify potential funders and partnership opportunities, recording eligibility criteria, deadlines and source links.
- Maintain a simple research tracker so staff can compare opportunities and see what needs follow-up.
- Help gather staff-approved program information, supporting documents and other application materials.
- Draft research summaries or application sections from verified information for staff review, and update your work after feedback.
What you bring
You enjoy reading, organizing information and writing clearly. You can distinguish a source fact from an assumption and keep track of where information came from. An interest in community programs, research or grant writing is useful.
What you will gain
Build research, fact-checking and concise writing skills. Gain practical exposure to how a community organization evaluates funding opportunities and prepares an application.
Support and responsibility
Staff set research priorities and review all materials. Contact with funders or partners, application submission and financial commitments remain with authorized staff.
