About This Opportunity
Join our team as a Regional Speech Contest Volunteer and help create an exciting, supportive, and professional experience for young speakers and their families. As a volunteer, you will assist with event setup, participant registration, guest support, stage coordination, and event operations while helping contestants feel welcomed and confident.
What you will do:
1. Assist with setting up registration tables, seating areas, signage, and event materials
2. Welcome contestants, families, judges, sponsors, and guests upon arrival
3. Support participant check-in and guide contestants to designated waiting or preparation areas
4. Help manage audience seating, directions, and general event inquiries
5. Assist backstage with contestant coordination, timing, certificates, awards, and stage transitions
6. Support photography, promotional activities, and the distribution of event materials
7. Collaborate with staff and volunteers to maintain an organized schedule and ensure the contest runs smoothly

Who We’re Looking For:
- Age between 12–30
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable speaking in front of small groups
- Patient, respectful, and supportive when working with seniors
- Ability to guide discussions and encourage participation
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail in preparing slides and handouts
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Ability to adapt communication style to different learning needs
- Commitment to completing basic training
- Fluency in English
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Check (required if over 18)
