The Volunteer Position

We are seeking a Regional Partnership Director (Volunteer) - British Columbia who can dedicate approximately 10 hours per week. This role is central to building, managing, and nurturing external partnerships that support BEC’s mission. The focus is on developing strategic alliances, increasing funding opportunities, and fostering long‑term collaborations that advance our programs and initiatives.

A key success measure for this role is the formation of meaningful partnerships and the signing of funding MoUs. This expectation is clearly reflected in the responsibilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnership Strategy Development: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive partnership strategy aligned with BEC’s mission and objectives.
  • Research and analyze nonprofit sector trends to guide partnership efforts.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective partners, including corporations, foundations, educational institutions, and government agencies.
  • Lead and achieve regional goals related to partnership formation and MoU signings within the agreed cycle.

Relationship Building and Management: 

  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with existing and potential partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to cultivate partnerships aligned with organizational priorities.

Fundraising and Resource Development: 

  • Identify and pursue partnership opportunities that result in funding, sponsorships, or in-kind donations. 
  • Collaborate with the development team to align partnership efforts with fundraising goals.
  • Develop proposals, presentations, and partnership agreements tailored to the needs and goals of potential partners. 

Program Collaboration and Development: 

  • Partner with internal teams to design and implement initiatives that leverage external partnerships.
  • Ensure all partnership activities align with BEC’s mission and create measurable impact.
  • Coordinate with program directors to integrate partner involvement into relevant projects.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: 

  • Plan and execute partner engagement activities such as events, workshops, and roundtables.
  • Represent BEC at meetings, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Provide regular updates to partners on the impact of their support.

Monitoring and Reporting: 

  • Track and report partnership performance, KPIs, deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with partnership agreements and fulfillment of obligations.
  • Provide regular updates to the Executive Director and the board.

Brand Awareness and Advocacy: 

  • Serve as an ambassador for BEC’s mission, programs, and initiatives.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications to highlight partnerships through various channels.. 

Team Leadership and Collaboration: 

  • Manage partnership subcommittee members, interns, or volunteers as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (programs, communications, finance) to ensure seamless execution.
  • Mentor and train team members on partnership development best practices

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in community, social, or charitable initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5–10 years of experience in partnership development, fundraising, corporate relations, or a related role in the nonprofit sector.
  • Demonstrated success in securing and managing high‑level partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Experience working with corporations, foundations, government agencies, and nonprofits.
  • Strong relationship‑building, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to plan strategically and execute effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal and presentation development.
  • English fluency; bilingual English/French required for candidates in Quebec.
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies, grant writing, or sponsorship acquisition is an asset.
  • Experience using CRM or partnership‑management tools is an added advantage.
