Property and trail stewards

WITH NATURE CONSERVANCY OF CANADA

Summary

The leading national land conservation group in Canada is The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC). We are a private, non-profit organization that collaborates with people, businesses, foundations, Indigenous communities, other non-profits, and governments at all levels to safeguard Canada's most precious natural resources: the ecosystems that support its plant and animal life. Through donations, purchases, conservation agreements, and the surrender of other tenancy rights, we safeguard properties and maintain them over the long term.

Volunteers contribute a distinct viewpoint, a variety of skills, and a passionate attitude to the preservation of nature. The public has the chance to monitor nature reserves as a property steward or help with trail maintenance through our Conservation Volunteers program. When we all work together, we can accomplish more.

Responsibilities for volunteer:

Volunteer trail and property stewards support our nature reserves by keeping an eye on the site's condition, recording species of interest, and reporting problems, such as illegal dumping or wood harvesting. They might also assist with sign installation or trail upkeep.

Opportunities for volunteer property and trail stewards span across Atlantic Canada, and are available on these priority nature reserves:

Baie Verte Nature Reserve (5 km from Port Elgin, NB)

Grand Manan Nature Reserve (53 km from Blacks Harbour, NB)

Miscou Island Nature Reserve (31 km from Shippagan, NB)

Musquash Estuary Nature Reserve (20 km from Saint John, NB)

Tabusintac Nature Reserve (55 km from Miramichi, NB)
