Position Overview:
As a Physiotherapy Assistant Volunteer, you will support physiotherapists and residents by helping set up equipment, supervising exercises, and assisting with mobility activities. This role is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, patient, and interested in helping residents improve their physical well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up exercise equipment for residents.
- Remove and properly store exercise equipment after use.
- Sanitize equipment before and after each use.
- Supervise residents while they perform physiotherapy exercises (under staff direction.
- Assist with walking training, including safely pushing a wheelchair from behind as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age. However, some roles may require a higher level of maturity or prefer adult candidates.
- Strong communication skills in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin are required. However, certain roles may require the ability to interact with residents in their native languages.
- Successful completion of the Tuberculosis (TB) screening and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- A genuine interest in helping residents with compassion, understanding, and patience.
- Demonstrated dependability, initiative, flexibility, and reliability.
- Willingness to attend additional training as needed.
Commitment & Locations:
- Available Monday to Sunday for 3-4 hour shifts or as assigned.
- A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
- The position will be at the Mon Sheong Richmond Hill Long-Term Care Centre (11199 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill, ON)
