Nature Canada is looking for self-motivated and detail oriented individuals to volunteer remotely with the photography data entry for our annual Nature Photo Contest!
Nature Canada is the oldest national nature conservation charity in Canada. For 85 years, we’ve helped protect over 144 million acres of parks and wildlife areas in Canada and the countless species that depend on this habitat. Today, we represent a network of over 185,000 members & supporters and more than 1200 nature organizations in every province across Canada.
Nature Canada’s mission is to protect and conserve nature in Canada by engaging Canadians and by advocating on behalf of nature. Volunteers play an integral role in protecting Canada’s green spaces; every minute volunteers contribute to positive change for nature in Canada.
Nature Canada is looking for self-motivated and detail oriented individuals to assist with a photography data entry project during the summer. The volunteers will assist with the downloading, organizing and compiling data on all of the beautiful photography submissions for the 2026 Nature Photo Contest.
Our 2026 Nature Photo Contest is a celebration of the plants and animals, landscapes, and nature moments that bring us joy and happiness. Our hope is to encourage more Canadians to get outdoors and to connect with nature across the summer months. It is a simple way for everyone to explore nature whether nearby in their NatureHood, at their cottage, or during their summer vacation. Canadian photographers across the country will be submitting their artwork for a chance to win prizes and be featured in the Nature Canada 2027 Calendar.
Volunteers are asked to commit to 2-4 hour shifts once or twice a week on average throughout May-September.
The successful candidate should have some experience working with basic computer programs; including the Google suite (Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc). The applicant will need to be able to work in a small but dynamic and fast-moving work environment. Either work or school experience in administration, advertising or fundraising would be considered an asset to this position.
Volunteers will build their resume and gain experience working at a national environmental non-profit, learning transferable professional skills in data entry and computer skills. Great way to improve typing skills and learn about species and identification of Canadian wildlife. This hands-on experience not only offers practical skills but also allows volunteers to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature through artwork and breathtaking pictures of Canada’s natural landscapes and wildlife, making it a fun and enriching experience.
Interested individuals should send a résumé and an email describing their interest in the position, how their past experience will be an asset, and how this position will help them toward reaching their professional goals to info@naturecanada.ca by June 25th. Please use subject line: 2026 Photography Data Entry Volunteer
No calls please. We thank all candidates for their interest, but we will only contact those selected for an interview.
We encourage applications from members of equity-seeking groups. Nature Canada is committed to a workplace free from discrimination, harassment and intimidation where everyone can participate safely, freely and confidently.
