About This Opportunity
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Community Development, or a related field (or equivalent lived/work experience).
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in peer support, community work, facilitation, or volunteer coordination.
- Experience working with men, boys, seniors, or diverse/vulnerable populations is an asset.
Knowledge & Understanding
- Strong understanding of peer support principles, including active listening, empathy, and confidentiality.
- Awareness of key issues affecting men and boys (e.g., mental health, isolation, trauma, relationships).
- Familiarity with group dynamics, support group facilitation, and community-based programming.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Strong facilitation and group engagement skills.
- Ability to motivate, guide, and support volunteers and participants effectively.
- Good organizational and coordination skills for managing meetings, sessions, and events.
- Ability to collect, track, and interpret feedback for program improvement.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Demonstrated leadership ability in guiding and supporting teams.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal teams and peer partners.
- Comfortable engaging with diverse perspectives in a respectful and inclusive manner.
Administrative & Technical Skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, attendance logs, and reports.
- Experience with virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) is an asset.
