Nunavut Help Line - Compassionate Presence Volunteer Program

WITH KAMATSIAQTUT

Summary

Description:

Thank you for considering joining our Compassionate Presence Volunteer Program! Our volunteers play a crucial role in providing support and care to individuals in need within our community. Below, we've outlined some key information to help you understand what it means to be a volunteer with us:

Frequency of Shifts:

We encourage volunteers to commit to at least one shift per month, although those who can manage two or three shifts are highly valued for their dedication.

Shift Scheduling:

In the event that you're unable to make your scheduled shift, we kindly ask volunteers to find their own replacement. Flexibility is key, and we understand the demands of work and personal schedules.

Travel Considerations:

We recognize that many individuals travel frequently for work or take vacations outside of the territory. While we expect a monthly commitment, we're flexible and understanding of your unique circumstances.

Training Commitment:

Volunteer training is mandatory and consists of a comprehensive 25-hour course. Additionally, volunteers are encouraged to participate in the ASIST course when offered and gain practical experience by observing and learning on the job.

Volunteer Pairings:

Volunteers work in pairs, providing support between 8:00-10:00 pm, every day of the year. This team approach ensures effective assistance and fosters a supportive environment.
