Who We Are - Rotary is a service organization dedicated to promoting service projects to enhance the lives of people in the community and around the world. Rotary has over 1.2 million members, in 30,000 clubs, in more than 200 countries. Rotarians are business and professional leaders who aspire to the highest ethical standards. We help those in need in our own communities and also seek to advance the cause of peace, understanding and goodwill worldwide through scholarships, youth and adult exchanges and humanitarian projects. Rotarians are committed to making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Our biweekly breakfast meetings are dynamic as we host informative speakers and programs. Our club welcomes new members committed to the community and mankind.

Community - Many people join clubs as a way to get to meet new people and make friends. Rotary is no different! Rotary was founded on fellowship, an ideal that remains a major attraction of membership today. In addition to service projects, the club offers many opportunities to develop lasting friendships and bonds with community. 

Career and business development - A founding principle of Rotary was to meet in person to enjoy each other's company and develop one's network of business, community and professional contacts. As the oldest service club in the world, Rotary members represent a diverse cross-section of the community's business owners, leaders and professionals. 

 Service opportunities - Markham Sunrise offers many opportunities for humanitarian service, both locally and internationally. Service programs address concerns like access to health care and youth services, hunger, poverty and the environment. We also organize the annual Markham Santa Claus parade amongst other events.

Entertainment - Every Rotary club and district has parties and activities that contribute to a diverse, yet professional business life. We have dinner parties, potlucks, and attend conferences that offer great diversions from today's demanding personal and professional schedules. 

Leadership development - Rotary is an organization of leaders and successful professionals. Team building, fundraising, public speaking, and organization are just some of the leadership skills that club members can exercise and enhance.

Who Can Join - We are looking for people of all ages (must be 18 or over) and backgrounds to join our Rotary Club of Markham Sunrise to use their time, energy, and skills to improve the lives of people in our local community and international.
