MICBA Forum Italia Community Services is dedicated to supporting seniors aged 65 and over through its Supportive Housing Program, ensuring they receive 24-hour on-site assistance. Their goal is to provide an alternative to long-term care facilities while promoting independence and community integration. The program includes stimulating activities for seniors, with a focus on Italian card games like Scopa and Briscola, offering a fun and social experience.
Volunteers will engage in popular Italian card games, Scopa and Briscola, with senior residents. Responsibilities include welcoming residents to the game room, forming teams, dealing cards, assisting those who need help, keeping score, and ensuring a positive recreational experience. Volunteers will also manage sign-ins, recruit residents, set up and clean the game area, and follow safety protocols.
Engage in an in-person recreational opportunity, particularly if you speak Italian.
Play a key role in providing social interaction and mental stimulation for residents.

Secondary school students can earn hours toward their community service graduation requirement.
Minimum Age: 16
Total Volunteer Engagement: 60 hours over at least 6 months.
Fluency in Italian is an asset.
