About This Opportunity

ROLE OVERVIEW HR & VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR About us The Volunteer Well is a Canadian non-profit focused on making support easier to give and easier to find. We connect people who want to help with individuals and communities who need support, creating spaces where generosity, dignity, and human connection can thrive. You’ll also have opportunities to build experience in areas such as digital marketing, corporate relations, finance, program coordination, and operations, depending on your interests and availability. Our work centers on reducing barriers to volunteering and access to resources, particularly for those facing systemic challenges such as women, seniors, newcomers, low-income individuals, and other marginalized groups. Through community-driven programs, events, partnerships, and advocacy, we help people feel seen, supported, and connected. At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: when people are given the opportunity to share their skills, time, and care, communities grow stronger — and everyone benefits.
Key Responsibilities Depending on their availability, volunteers can choose to participate in any or all the following initiatives: Volunteer Program Development & Strategy ● Ensure the volunteer management program aligns with The Volunteer Well’s mission, vision, and community engagement goals. ● Develop and implement inclusive, accessible, and effective recruitment, screening, training, and retention strategies. ● Provide strategic input to create new volunteer opportunities that support organizational objectives. Recruitment & Community Partnerships ● Design and execute recruitment campaigns to attract a diverse and talented pool of volunteers. ● Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, businesses, schools, and organizations to enhance recruitment efforts. ● Conduct interviews and assessments to ensure volunteers align with the organization’s values and needs. Training, Engagement & Retention ● Oversee onboarding, orientation, and training programs to prepare volunteers for their roles. ● Develop and implement recognition and appreciation initiatives to foster engagement and long-term retention. ● Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing inquiries, concerns, and providing ongoing support. ● Conduct regular performance reviews and exit interviews, offering feedback and guidance for improvement. ● Create strategies to engage volunteers across programs and events, promoting inclusivity and community service. Compliance & Program Evaluation ● Maintain accurate volunteer records, tracking schedules, assignments, and performance. ● Monitor and evaluate volunteer program outcomes, generating reports for internal and external stakeholders. ● Ensure compliance with bylaws, regulations, and confidentiality standards, including conducting background checks. ● Establish and enforce volunteer policies and procedures to ensure a safe, productive, and positive environment. Lived experience and Diversity Statement The Volunteer Well is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We encourage applications from Indigenous, Black, racialized, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities, women, newcomers, persons with disabilities, low-income families, and other equity-deserving groups. We recognize that lived experience is a valuable asset and will be considered where applicable to the role.
