WITH WILLIAM OSLER HEALTH SYSTEM - VOLUNTEER SERVICES

Summary

William Osler Health System is seeking energetic, compassionate, and dedicated volunteers to assist staff, patients, and visitors at all three Osler hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital, and Peel Memorial Centre. Volunteers play a crucial role in providing a welcoming and caring environment for everyone who enters these hospitals. Whether you are retired, a student, or someone with available time during the day, volunteering at Osler is a meaningful way to give back to your community and learn more about healthcare.

Minimum age to volunteer: 15 (at the time of application).

Strong communication skills in English (additional languages are an asset).

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and patients.

Capacity to handle situations in a fast-paced environment.

Compassion, caring, and the ability to provide positive support to patients and their families.

This is a medium-term commitment lasting 4 to 6 months. Shifts are available at various times, and volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of 60 hours of service. A typical volunteer opportunity is based on a fixed schedule, once per week (e.g., every Tuesday from 10 am to 2 pm). Shifts may vary in duration from 2 to 4 hours per week.

Osler's training and orientation program covers a range of topics, including emergency preparedness, infection control, health and safety, accessibility, incidents and illness procedures, confidentiality and privacy, patient experience, and patient identification. In-depth training specific to volunteer roles is provided, and trainings may be conducted by staff, experienced volunteers, team leads, resource nurses, charge nurses, or clerical associates.
