Volunteer from home. We need a Coordinator for our Hamilton region.This role could be filled by two people.The Coordinator organizes the whole process involved in delivering pillowcases to kids at Hamilton's McMaster Childrens Hospital and RMHC
Comfy Cases Coordinators – What we do….
We
· Understand that Comfy Cases is a grassroots organization with only volunteers. (We are currently awaiting the results of our application for charitable status with CRA.)
· Communicate with interested local Volunteers and maintain a list of volunteer contact information and share that list with info@comfycases.ca.
· Arrange for Volunteers to drop off completed pillowcases
· Purchase fabric (as authorized) and submit a receipt for reimbursement
· Sew pillowcases
· Maintain Quality control – screen donated pillowcases (repair if possible) for problems with seams/fabric.
· Cut fabric to make kits for Volunteers to sew.
· Sew labels into donated pillowcases.
· Wash pillowcases with unscented detergent and no dryer sheets, iron, package pillowcases
· Ensure all donated pillowcases are made from 100% cotton. (If not, they can be donated to a women’s shelter.)
· Support fundraising – e.g. contact local Rotary or Lions Clubs, attend local markets/fairs. Attend Service Club meetings (with support)
· Solicit community groups e.g. quilters’ guilds for fabric.
· Join Zoom/Meet get-togethers
· Maintain contact with local hospital staff including about quantities of pillowcases needed throughout the year as well as for Halloween and Christmas/Winter.
· Deliver to hospitals and to other organizations
· Contribute to the Comfy Cases Facebook group
· Report totals
· Store extra pillowcases
· Submit authorized expenses/receipts for reimbursements
· Help other Coordinators when needed.
