If you want something fun, creative, and genuinely skill-building, Varley volunteering is a great fit especially for students and community members who like being around art and people. Volunteers help the gallery run smoothly in three main ways: supporting special events (greeting guests, sharing basic info, helping with setup and cleanup, and keeping the space safe and organized), assisting with children’s programs (prepping materials, helping participants one-on-one, supporting the instructor, and keeping activities safe), and working as Gallery Attendants (being present in exhibition spaces, answering simple questions, reminding visitors of gallery rules, and helping protect artwork). It’s a volunteer experience that builds confidence, customer service skills, and teamwork while being part of a welcoming arts environment.
