Position Overview:
As a Food Service Assistant Volunteer, you will help prepare meals for residents and assist in maintaining the kitchen’s cleanliness while adhering to food safety regulations. Your role is vital in ensuring the nutritional needs of our residents are met in a safe and hygienic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with food preparation for residents.
- Cleaning and disinfecting areas, tools, and equipment, etc.
- Ensure proper storage of food items.
- Follow inflection prevention & control (IPAD) standards, posted signs and food safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age. However, some roles may require a higher level of maturity or prefer adult candidates.
- Strong communication skills in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin are required. However, certain roles may require the ability to interact with residents in their native languages.
- Successful completion of the Tuberculosis (TB) screening and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- A genuine interest in helping residents with compassion, understanding, and patience.
- Demonstrated dependability, initiative, flexibility, and reliability.
- Willingness to attend additional training as needed.
Commitment & Locations:
- Available Monday to Sunday for 3-4 hour shifts or as assigned.
- A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
- The position will be at the Mon Sheong Stouffville Long-Term Care Centre (162 Sandiford Dr, Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON)
