Position Overview:
Feeding Assistants play a vital role in supporting our residents during mealtime, ensuring they receive the nutrition they need in a comfortable and supportive environment. Volunteers will assist staff in setting up meals, helping residents to the dining area, and providing encouragement during mealtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with meal setup, including preparing trays and organizing dining tables.
- Help transport wheelchair-bound residents to and from the dining area.
- Support staff with feeding residents who require assistance.
- Encourage residents to complete their meals and provide a friendly, engaging dining experience.
- Follow safety and hygiene protocols to ensure a clean and comfortable dining environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Strong communication skills in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin are required. However, certain roles may require the ability to interact with residents in their native languages.
- Successful completion of the Tuberculosis (TB) screening and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- An active interest in helping seniors in a compassionate, understanding and patient manner.
- Completion of the feeding training.
Commitment & Locations:
- Available Monday to Sunday for 3-4 hour shifts or as assigned.
- A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
- The position will be at the Mon Sheong Scarborough Long-Term Care Centre (2030 McNicoll Avenue, Scarborough, ON)

- Willing to undergo a background or police records check
- Minimum 16 years old
- Willing to complete medical forms
- Fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin
- Wiling to undergo a Tuberculosis (TB) test
