About this opportunity:

York Region Educational Services (YRES) is hosting a volunteer fair on April 25, 2026! In collaboration with Ignite Fair, YRES will be bringing together a variety of organizations and booths to connect community members with exciting volunteer opportunities.


Location: YRES Markham office (3100 Steeles Ave East) + Thornhill Community Centre + Virtual


Pre-event shifts: 2h+ shifts Sunday-Thursday, minimum 20 hours commitment

During-event shifts: Saturday, April 25th 2026 at 1:30pm-6:30PM

After-event shifts: 2h+ shifts Sunday-Thursday, minimum 10 hours commitment


Responsibilities:

- Supporting the event promotion, including (but not limited to) graphic design, video creation, blog writing, and data analysis

- Assisting with booth setup and takedown and monitoring the event entrances and exits

- Tallying event attendance and signing attendees in

Requirements:

- At least 12 years old

- Able to independently arrive to work on time

- Passionate about volunteering and excited to learn

- Can commit to scheduled time of event

- Fluency in English

- Highly organized, detail-orientated and capable of managing multiple tasks


Assets (nice to have):

- Previous experience in event planning and coordinating

- Fluency/high proficiency in a language other than English
