About This Opportunity
U+ Community is recruiting Exhibitor & Booth Support Volunteers to support the York Region Volunteer Fair on September 20, 2026, at Thornhill Community Centre.
The York Region Volunteer Fair brings together nonprofit organizations, community groups, students, youth, and community members to promote meaningful volunteer opportunities and strengthen connections across York Region.
As an Exhibitor & Booth Support Volunteer, you will work directly with participating organizations and community partners to help them prepare for and participate in the fair. Volunteers will complete training and pre-event preparation related to exhibitor support procedures and organization information.
Key Responsibilities:
• Welcome participating organizations and exhibitors as they arrive
• Assist with organization and exhibitor check-in procedures
• Direct representatives to their assigned booth or event area
• Help exhibitors locate event resources, materials, and designated spaces
• Provide basic assistance while organizations prepare their booths
• Check in with participating organizations throughout the event to identify support needs
• Respond to basic exhibitor questions and refer more complex requests to event staff
• Help maintain clear communication between exhibitors and the event coordination team
• Support organizations with logistical needs during the fair when assigned
• Assist exhibitors during event closing and departure procedures
Event Date: Sunday, September 20, 2026
Location: Thornhill Community Centre, 7755 Bayview Ave., Thornhill, Ontario
No previous event or volunteer experience is required. Training and instructions will be provided. Ideal candidates will: • Be professional, friendly, and comfortable communicating with organization representatives • Have strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills • Be reliable, punctual, and responsible • Have good organizational and problem-solving skills • Be able to follow event procedures and assigned responsibilities • Work effectively as part of a team • Be comfortable responding to basic questions and directing requests to appropriate staff • Demonstrate professionalism when representing U+ Community • Be available for required training, preparation activities, and the September 20 event An interest in nonprofit work, business, public relations, communications, event management, stakeholder relations, or community engagement is considered an asset.
