We are looking for retired, senior executives and professionals who are well-connected and keen on child, youth and family wellbeing. Apply to Join our Board of Directors as either a Director or Officer (Treasurer or Secretary).
We are looking for 2-5 senior executives and professionals to join our Board: retired CEO, CFO, Physician, Public Accountant, Lawyer, School Superintendent, to name a few. Persons with lived experience in neurodiversity are invited and welcome.
Preference will be given to applicants with
strong networks in Canada and a solid reputation and track record.
Neurodiversity can mean an undiagnosed condition, autism, ADHD, LD, ID, mental health
concerns, medical complexity (like Diabetes or being dependent on technology to
breathe) or other common or rare disorders.
(1) Directors/Officers meet quarterly for a total 14 hours/ year: typically in March, June, September, December for about 2 hours each (sub-total 8
hours), and annually at the 1.5-hour Annual General Meeting in March and
4.5-hour Strategic Planning Meeting and Volunteer-Family Lunch, usually in
September (sub-total 6 hours).
(2) Directors/Officers fundraise, strengthen
networks and provide strategic direction. They contribute to and attend three
fundraising events in April/May, June and November/February (additional
sub-total 12 hours).
Treasurer
(i) The Treasurer, Officer of the Board, chairs the Finance Committee composed of the Bookkeeper and internal auditor. The Treasurer leads and oversees accounting, budgeting, banking, forecasting, financing, management of concerted government funds, emission of Tax Receipts on eligible gifts per CRA regulations. The Treasurer co-approves expenses and co-signs invoices with another Officer. Last, the Treasurer manages pay to contractors and reimbursements for pre-approved expenses.
(ii) The Treasurer ensures that practices and policies are
countable and accountable, transparent and accurate, showing progress and
growth. The Treasurer contributes and leads new investment solutions and
revenue streams to achieve the Charity goals.
Secretary
(i) The Secretary, Officer of the Board, chairs the Administration Committee composed of the Administrative Assistant and Translator. The Secretary organises board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM), including the Annual Report, takes minutes, manages or oversees correspondence, coordinates legal and membership updates required by the board and federal/provincial corporate offices, and keeps legal and membership records up to date. Last, the Secretary delegates administrative tasks as appropriate or required for translation from English to French, room bookings, eMeeting set-up, email/phone communications and the like.
(ii) The Secretary ensures that reports are transparent and accurate, liaises with the board, legal office, corporate offices, contributes to decision-making and strategic direction, and presents membership updates at board meetings and the Annual Report at the AGM, with drive to advance the Registered Charity sustainability and community impact.
General Directors of the Board
(i) Directors chair a working committee composed mainly of volunteers who advance the mission. Committee work ranges from Donor and Sponsor Stewardship, Fundraising Events, Digital Marketing, Community Engagement with families of neurodiverse children, youth, adults, to give some examples.
