About This Opportunity
This opportunity will support a staff member with the facilitation of the “Stirring up Generations” intergenerational cooking series. Engaging with participants by making them feel welcome, supporting them with cooking, safe kitchen skills, following recipes, and more. This position may come with the opportunity to engage in other kitchen/cooking positions outside of the Stirring up Generations program.
Responsibilities
• supporting staff with facilitating a cooking class
· set up the kitchen for participants; this may include laying out cutting boards, bowls, and utensils based on the recipe
· follow safe food handling practices
· help participants follow recipes
· clean work area and wash dishes at the end of the shift
· communicate with the program coordinator
· support participants in completing forms and end-of-class surveys
· other duties, as required
Skills and Qualifications
· must be 18 years of age or older
· basic food preparation skills
· ability to read and follow a recipe
· ability to work independently and with others
· attend volunteer orientation and role-specific training
· completion of health screening requirements of the GRCHC
· safe Food Handling Certificate would be an asset
Time Commitment:
· 2 days per month
· 3-3.5-hour shift
· shifts range between 9:30 am-12:30 pm, 11:30 am-2:30 pm, and 4:30 pm- 7:30 pm
· this program runs twice monthly from June 5th, 2026, to December 1st, 2026
