Citizens on Patrol Volunteer

WITH HALIFAX REGIONAL POLICE

Summary

Halifax Regional police should become a Citizens on Patrol Volunteer:

  • Must be at least 19 years of age 
  • Have a valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence and a good driving record
  • Commit to Citizens on Patrol for a minimum of 1 year 
  • Must volunteer for a minimum of 120 hours per year
  • Should be pass the Halifax Regional Police security clearances
  • Have access to a vehicle with current and up-to-date automobile insurance that covers Citizen on Patrol activities

Tasks of a Citizens on Patrol Volunteer:

  • Observing activity and taking notes
  • Reporting anything suspicious to Halifax Regional Police
  • Attending group meetings and training sessions
  • Helping in emergency situations when requested by police, fire or EHS
