Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) celebrates the 2SLGBTQ+ community by creating events that reflect the pride the community has. They also aim to improve the vibrancy, health and overall well-being of everyone who participates in their event.
Captains are skilled volunteers who lead large groups of 20-30+ volunteers towards achieving specific event-related objectives. They must be adaptable, personable, and possess strong leadership skills, with the capacity to coordinate groups and motivate volunteers to accomplish various tasks. Captains are responsible for significant event components like parade roads, traffic control, or vendor management, and work closely with VPS staff, having access to comprehensive event information to aid in their role. Their goal is to ensure a fun and exciting experience for both volunteers and attendees. Given the high degree of responsibility in the Captain role, they are expected to attend pre-event meetings and commit 4-12 hours on event days.
