About:
The commitment and support from over 400 volunteers plays an important role in enhancing the well-being of animals while building stronger human-animal connections within the community. All volunteer positions provide the chance to help animals needing assistance, gain knowledge about responsible animal care, and make meaningful contributions to the community.
Canine Care Volunteer Duties:
- Assist with a variety of responsibilities which directly attribute to the efficient and effective daily operation of Toronto Humane Society
- Ensuring animal housing is clean, sanitary, and comfortable
- Providing the canines with professional, conscientious, and compassionate care through the implementation of positive reinforcement training and socialization
Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be over 18-years old
- All volunteer roles, unless otherwise specified during the onboarding process, require commitment to a weekly shift for a minimum of 6 months
- All interested candidates must fill out an application
- All volunteers are provided with theoretical and hands-on training. Multiple-choice testing and AODA Customer Service Standard training are included in the training
- As part of the Toronto Humane Society health and safety protocol, it is strongly recommend that all volunteers have a current tetanus shot
