About This Opportunity
Healthy Aligned Living (HAL) is seeking committed individuals to join our Board of Directors and help guide the continued growth and long-term direction of our organization.
This is a two-year volunteer term with an expected commitment of approximately 4–8 hours per month. We are building an engaged board where members can learn the organization, contribute their knowledge and experience, participate in strategic planning, and help move HAL's goals forward.
What to Expect
The two-year term will develop in stages so board members have an opportunity to understand HAL before moving into strategic planning and implementation.
Phase 1 – Learn the Organization
Board members will begin by learning about HAL's mission, programs, history, communities served, partnerships, current operations, accomplishments, and future vision. This stage provides an opportunity to ask questions, understand how the organization operates, and develop a strong foundation for effective board participation.
Phase 2 – Strategic Planning
As members develop a stronger understanding of HAL, the board will move into strategic planning. Members will work together to identify priorities, strengthen governance, explore opportunities, and establish short- and long-term goals that support HAL's continued development.
Phase 3 – Putting the Plan into Action
Board members will then help move the strategic plan and organizational priorities forward. Members will contribute according to their individual strengths, professional knowledge, experience, and networks, allowing the board to work collectively toward HAL's goals.
Time Commitment
Board members can expect to contribute approximately 4–8 hours per month, including scheduled board meetings and agreed-upon board responsibilities. The commitment is structured to allow members to make a meaningful contribution while responsibilities are shared across the board.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome individuals with diverse professional backgrounds, perspectives, skills, and lived experiences. Experience or knowledge in areas such as governance, finance/accounting, law, fundraising, strategic planning, human resources, business, education, youth services, mental health, addiction and recovery, justice, or community development is an asset.
Previous board experience is also an asset. Individuals with limited board experience should be willing to learn, participate in training, and develop their knowledge of nonprofit governance and board responsibilities as part of their role.
We are looking for dependable individuals who are prepared to contribute their ideas, work collaboratively, and bring their individual strengths to a board committed to HAL's mission and future.
