About the Volunteer Role

The Aprons in Action Celebration Gala is the grand finale of Diabetes Canada’s national cooking challenge-an unforgettable evening of culinary excitement, celebration, and community impact. On Saturday, November 14, 2026, World Diabetes Day, guests will gather at The Carlu in Toronto for a night of inspiration and exceptional food.

The Aprons in Action - Gala Volunteer will be supporting with the operations and logistics on the day of the event. This volunteer role will support our Community Fundraising & Events team. 


What You’ll Do  

  • Support with setup for Aprons in Action Gala - including setup of banners, tables, and registration
  • Be a friendly greeter at the registration table & share information with participants and attendees 
  • Carry grocery items to stations for competition participants
  • Ensure a positive and respectful environment for everyone 
  • Ensure donors are connected to their primary DC Contact
  • Help raise funds through multiple activations on site 

Working Conditions: 

  • This volunteer role is expected to be onsite.
  • This volunteer role is expected to lift up to 50lbs and be mobile to get around the venue.

  • Enthusiasm and commitment to supporting Diabetes Canada's mission and values.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong networking abilities and willingness to engage with potential sponsors, donors, and supporters.
  • Comfortable meeting with potential donors to ask for donations on behalf of Diabetes Canada.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute ideas and solutions.
  • Prior experience in event planning, fundraising, or volunteer coordination is beneficial but not required.
  • Availability to assist with day-of-event activities and provide on-site support during the gala (full-day commitment on event day).
