The Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington is looking for Board members with governance, legal, healthcare and leadership professional experience and people who are living with dementia to serve as Directors on our volunteer Board of Directors.
We are seeking representation from Guelph/Wellington, Cambridge and North Dumfries or Waterloo Region on our volunteer Board of Directors. Experience in not-for-profit health/community care management would be helpful but not required.

The Role
of the Board
· To ensure that the Alzheimer Society
Waterloo Wellington (ASWW) fulfills its responsibilities, operates effectively
and acts in accordance with the principles of being ethical, accountable,
collaborative, open, relational, and proactive
· To deliver on ASWW’s Mission: To alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and to promote research
The
Responsibility of Board Members
· The Board is responsible for
governing the affairs of ASWW, delegating the day-to-day operations to the
Executive Director, and delegating certain duties to Board Committees
· There are 10 Board meetings per year (monthly except for July and August). Currently meetings are held in person with the option of virtually on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:15 – 8:15 pm in ourKitchener office.
· Board members serve a two-year term,
renewable for two additional terms
· All Board members must join at least
one Committee
