How to use your direct URL to promote all current volunteer opportunities on your website

By: Volunteer Success

One of the things that prospective volunteers want to know when they visit your website is what kinds of current volunteer opportunities you offer. However, keeping that list up to date can be time-consuming, especially if you don’t have access to the content management of your website. We can offer you an easy solution to this challenge!

When you set up your organizational profile on Volunteer Success, we provide you with a direct link to your profile and all active opportunities. For example, the profile for Volunteer Success on our site (because we also recruit volunteers) is https://www.volunteersuccess.com/organizations/volunteer-success. Any active opportunities will display under your organizational profile.

You can add that URL to your volunteer webpage permanently, perhaps hyperlinking using the phrase “Current Opportunities” or a button. That way you only need to easily update your postings on the Volunteer Success page for prospective volunteers on your website to see what opportunities you have available.

How to find your own direct URL to your organizational profile? There are two ways to do it:

  1. Go to https://www.volunteersuccess.com/organizations and do a search for your organization. Click on See Details and then copy the URL.
  2. Log in, Go to Edit Profile Information on the left-hand side and then click on About Your Organization. The URL is just under the textbox for the Organization Mission. You also have the option to edit the URL if you wish.

You can also post that link on your SM channels to promote opportunities to your wider community.

How To Orchestrate Change In Your Own Organization

By: Lori Gotlieb

Have we made much headway in the past few years? Is this because we spend most of our time focusing on the volunteer management cycle instead of change management or planning practices. The volunteer management cycle is a core component to building and managing a volunteer program but it is focused on activities and process. What I am talking about is more about “you” the person who is charged with overseeing the program. We need to start shifting our thinking as leaders and how the volunteer program can integrate itself into an organizations strategic plan, and as a leader of volunteers, your ability to sell it to your senior leadership team.

COVID Learning

By: Rick Nason & Daniel O. Livvarcin

Let’s simply skip all of the platitudes about the challenges of COVID and move straight to the learning; what did you learn about your organization during COVID? As we slowly (and perhaps prematurely) start to see the light at the end of the tunnel for COVID, each and every type of organization, and this especially includes non-profits, should take advantage of the opportunity to debrief the COVID chock and what it taught us about each of our organizations. There are lots of learning opportunities during COVID. Warren Buffett, in an admittedly different context, said that when the tide goes out, you get to see who has been swimming naked. COVID exposed the naked parts (and personnel) of a lot of organizations. However, COVID also exposed a lot of people who were wearing brilliantly and beautifully designed swimwear (to stretch the saying). COVID exposed the fact that organizations had inner strengths that were previously unacknowledged, underappreciated, and likely underutilized.
