The Elizabeth Fry Society supports some of society’s most vulnerable populations – women, girls and children at risk, involved in or affected by the justice system. Our more than two dozen programs work to break the cycle of poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness and crime. We envision a world without prisons with strong and well-resourced communities for everyone. To help make this vision a reality, we are working to address the persistent ways in which women and gender-diverse people impacted by criminalization have been denied humanity and excluded from community.
Our clients range in age from newborn to senior citizens. Most live in poverty. Some are homeless. Many are without support networks or the tools necessary to build a brighter future for themselves and their families. Virtually all are either at risk of becoming involved, involved or affected by the justice system.
